About Me. About the Blog.

My name is Ryan Brophy.

I’m a 21-year-old, Writing Arts major, Journalism minor at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.

As the major implies, I do a lot of reading and writing. And I can say that after 3 years of exposure to diverse writing styles, different authors, and endless amounts of essays,  I’ve become partial to the genre of creative nonfiction.

If the style sounds unheard of to you, don’t worry. Creative nonfiction has only recently come onto the scene as having the potential for being literary. It’s only recently being defined as a genre. And don’t expect to find it listed in any type of section at local libraries. Creative nonfiction is new.

With a combination of research and real-life examples, I’ll bring to this page all that I know and love about the genre.

If you’d like to know more about me, I also write for my online journalism class here and for myself here. Feel free to leave any comments or questions.
